Thank you for sharing you and the story of your name. The transformation was beautiful. Just as life changes us, we change life. And you chose to create beauty and a new life to share with others. Through your frays and artifacts and caring. And you found a special person to love and that's the most magical of all! I am so happy for you! And honored to visit you and Rabbit and Bear! Keep sharing your beautiful stories and your creations! Some days they are all that keep me going!
Thank you, dear Zihna. ❤️ Knowing that these stories have become somewhere you can visit means more to me than I can properly express. Rabbit would probably insist the thanks belong equally to everyone who chooses to pull up a chair, because a table only becomes a gathering when someone sits down. Thank you for being part of it.
Thank you for having me! Oh, and last night I had 2 does and a fawn visit me. It was nice to have company again. So, my guess is, Dora told them about the biscuits and they will find your table, too.
You are certainly in a wonderful part if the country to 'find' a great variety of fabrics. There are things saved there that people don't even know are waiting for a new life.
I lived in St Paul for 20 yrs. There are many wonderful fiber artists there. If you ever get down to Minneapolis, check out the Textile Center. It a consortium of many practices. Once a year they have a 'garage sale' that is all related to the fiber techniques and guilds.
Thank you, Celia. ❤️ “Waiting for a new life” feels exactly right. I sometimes think the cloth knows long before I do that our paths are meant to cross. My part is mostly to keep wandering and paying attention.
And thank you for pointing me toward the Textile Center. It sounds like one of those places where a traveller could happily lose an entire day. I do hope to find my way there someday.
Thank you, Deb. ❤️ If these stories have become a little resting place, then they have become exactly what I hoped they might. Thank you for telling me.
Rabbit would quietly slide another cup of tea across the table and simply say, “You’re always welcome here.”
Thank you, Linda. ❤️ Origin stories have a way of revealing not simply where something began, but how it slowly became itself. Thank you for inviting me to yours. I’ll bring a cup of tea and linger there awhile.
I rather think Rabbit would spend a long while listening to the shell, not for the sea itself, but for whatever memories the sea entrusted to it. Bear, meanwhile, would quietly admire how a simple souvenir became the beginning of a much longer voyage. I loved discovering where Shellphone Chronicles came from. It’s a lovely reminder that the names which stay with us are often the ones that find us, rather than the ones we set out to invent. ❤️

Rabbit hearing this news, would look thoughtfully toward Bear.
“…Bear?”
Bear would glance up from polishing a teacup.
“Mm?”
Rabbit would nod very seriously.
“I think…”
A pause.
“…we may need more biscuits.”
Bear wouldn’t even look surprised anymore.
He’d simply sigh with the deep patience that only Bears possess.
“I’ll put the kettle on.”
“If its ok, Rabbit, I would like to come with them. Its been a rough week,,,”
Crow said. “But, only if it isn’t too much trouble.”
Never any trouble at all, my dear friend!
Thank you.

Your stories give my anxious mind somewhere to rest.

I love an origin story Joe, thank you for sharing it. I am happy for your reformation, of your life, your craft, and your name.
If you care to know where Shellphone Chronicles came from, here is mine.

I’ll look forward to hearing what Rabbit and Bear think about the conch shells. 😎

Thanks for this Joe - I think both Bear and Rabbit are on to something. Have a wonderful day!
They are smart little buggers, aren’t they?!
🤣🤣🤣
A beautiful story about a name ❤️❤️
And, if Rabbit happened to overhear Emmy’s comment, I suspect he’d smile, tuck another biscuit into his pocket, and whisper to Bear,
“Names are funny things…”
Bear looks up.
Rabbit continues,
“Sometimes they stay…”
A pause.
“…because someone else has remembered them.”
Then, satisfied that no further explanation is required, he’d wander off in search of the kettle.
Thank you, Emmy. ❤️ I’m always grateful when someone chooses to linger in one of these stories for a little while.
I love you stories 🥰🥰
